CBD is typically marketed as a supplement for pain, anxiety, and insomnia, but its effects are unproven.  These supplements may use extracts from cannabis plants containing the prohibited substance delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

What are the health risks and side effects? CBD oil does not appear to carry any direct health risks, but supplements can often contain other substances (such as THC and other cannabinoids) which are not listed on the label.

What else should you know? Like most supplements, there is very little scientific evidence that CBD oil has any of the effects that products claim.  CBD is not prohibited, but you may be wasting your money and it may contain THC (or other prohibited cannabinoids)

Risk of rule violation If a CBD product you are using contains THC, this could result in a doping offence if the level is a above the reporting threshold set by the World Anti-Doping Agency. You can find details on the reporting threshold in the “Laboratories” section of the World Anti-Doping Agency website.
